The Hope and Healing Institute mission is “Transformative Research with Greater Purpose.” Cultivating Families mission is to “Inspire and Equip greater Houston area faith-based communities to care for foster and adopted children.” I was introduced to the Hope and Healing Institute (HHI) April 2013. During my initial meeting, everyone saw my passion for helping Houston area faith communities become aware of local foster children’s need for forever families. It was clear that HHI would be a good place to develop a program to make this a reality. Some may say it has been an “incubator, ” but I look at it as my program “foster home” where I have been able to develop and launch the program. It has taken a tremendous amount of work, and I could not have done it without the help and encouragement of the HHCI staff, grants from local congregations, and significant funding from Houston Endowment. I am sincerely grateful for my time here. My fellowship comes to an end August 2017 when I will “age out” and begin my non-profit, Cultivating Families: Helping Foster Care and Adoption Thrive You can learn more by watching the video below. In it, you will learn more about my vision for inspiring and equipping faith communities to care for foster and adopted children. I also openly express my desire to engage multiple faith communities and explains my personal passion for doing so as a Christian. Our hope for our next video session is to add clips from other faith communities and begin to reveal how working together; we can welcome all children into caring homes and faith communities. With gracious support from:
